In commemoration of Green and Earth Day 2016, an interesting variety of activities were organized for the PM session students to drive home the message on how they can do their part to save Mother Earth. A week before the actual celebration on April 22nd, there was an assembly talk by Ms Joycelene and Ms Jessica on how we can practise the 3Rs to save the environment. They also covered topics like littering and pollution and how that has caused the death of many animals especially in the sea. Ms Maria Soo also started teaching the students the 3R song during the assembly sing-a-long sessions. Teachers were also busy teaching this topic during CCE lessons. The greatest excitement for the students however was completing their art and craft project for the competition. The students had to make a recycling box using only reused materials.
On Apr 22nd, the celebration began with the students proudly arranging their projects at the side of the stage.
Then Ms Mazlinda gave an interesting slide presentation on how we can conserve our environment. Students were given an overview on how they can reduce, reuse and recycle. The issue on deforestation and animals going extinct due to it was also brought up.
Then it was Quiz Time with Ms Ika. Students actively took part in the quiz and received attractive tokens.
After that was the much awaited prize presentation for the best recycled box.
The first prize winners for the different categories (above) and all other prize recipients proudly displayed their work on the stage.
A class representative from each of the winning classes then went on stage to explain how they came up with their project.
The event ended with a sing-a-long session with Ms Mario Soo teaching them the 3R song.
The celebration and all the activities leading to it drove home the message of the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling in a fun and memorable way.
