Photography Workshop for Students with ASD

Communication is an area of difficulty for people with autism. Photography is a powerful mode of visual expression. It offers them a new way to communicate and express self. Digital photography allows even the amateurs to capture the beautiful moments of lives at the click of a button and record it forever. It also gives us the opportunity to see into the minds of people with autism of how they see the world.

As part of the Holiday Busy programme, students in the ASD programme were introduced to basic Photography Workshop. They learnt the parts of the camera, focusing on the subject, filling the camera and shooting from different angles.

The theme for the photography project was Cakes. Students styled their props and were excited about snapping their props. Besides using school camera, they also used their smart-phones to take photographs.

It was a beautiful ending for the 2014 academic year.
