At Metta School, we firmly believe every student carries innate potential, can flourish and reach its full potential.

Founded in 2001, Metta School was established by Metta Welfare Association with the support of Ministry of Education (MOE) and National Council of Social Service (NCSS) offering special education to students with Mild Intellectual Disability (MID) and / or mild Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We offer 4 programmes to meet the different learning needs of students from age 7 to 21.  Together with our strategic partner, Institute of Technical Education (ITE), we offer nationally recognized ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) courses which equip students with vocational skills.

We adopt a holistic approach to support our students’ development, offering arts, on top of academics, vocational training, daily living skills training, social-emotional learning and adapted physical education.  Aesthetic education is a platform we firmly believe will enable our students to acquire many critical life skills and develop self-confidence.  We started our Performing and Visual Arts programme in 2003 and this has since grown into our signature programme, offering many different art forms.  Students’ learning will culminate and be showcased at our biennial Shine Night.

Principal's Welcome

Warm greetings from Metta School and a big welcome to our school community, where we celebrate the diversity and potential of our students.

In Metta, we believe that education should be a joyful and meaningful journey that involves the whole child where students feel free to explore, discover and express themselves within the school and in the community. To this end, I am honoured to lead a team of dedicated and passionate staff who are committed to providing quality and holistic education. We aspire to prepare our students for life challenges in a nurturing and safe learning environment where they know it is alright to learn from mistakes and be themselves. We provide our students with opportunities to participate in curricular and co-curricular activities so as to equip them with skills, knowledge, and values where they can develop their social, emotional, and moral competencies, as well as their personal interests and talents.

We recognise that education is a shared responsibility that requires the collaboration of parents and partners. With the right support and guidance, our students can lead fulfilling lives where they can contribute meaningfully to the best of their abilities. We value your partnership in our students’ education journey and look forward to collaborating with you to help our students achieve his or her dreams. Together, we can make a positive difference in their lives!

Delivering quality education, creating holistic experiences.

Our commitment lies in providing quality education through the use of evidence-based pedagogies and equipping our students with future-ready skills.  Our curriculum focus is holistic, covering student development in the areas of cognitive, social-emotional and physical.  We also strive to develop students’ leadership skills and aesthetic interests in different types of creative expression.

Empowering Students to lead meaningful lives through quality staff.

Through staff who engage in lifelong professional development, we aim to support our students to become independent in daily living and are engaged in fulfilling activities.  Students are also equipped with knowledge, skills and attributes so that they can contribute productively to their families and the community upon graduation.

Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, Openness, Compassion and Knowledge (R³OCK)

Each school value is unpacked into 5 standards, so that students understand the behaviours expected of them.  Through explicit values education and teachable moments, we aim to inculcate in our students these values to build strong character.
