Metta School is a special education school that caters to students with mild intellectual disability and / or mild autism spectrum disorders, between 7 to 21 years old. Our wide range of school programmes include broad-based foundational years and basic education in functional skills as well as specialized vocational training leading to national certification.

1. JOB COACH
Responsibilities:
- Perform job matching and job re-design
- Develop transition plan for individual student from school to open employment
- Source for suitable employers
- Monitor student progress, achievements and participation at workplace through appropriate documentation and recordkeeping
- Working closely with employer partners and their employees in understanding our students at workplace
Requirements:
- Min Diploma from recognized institution with 5 GCE “A” &/or “O’ level credits
- Trained with Diploma in Special Education (DISE) is an advantage
- Relevant experience in working with special needs students is preferred
- Ability to establish rapport and motivate others
2. OCCUPATIONAL THERPIST
Job Description:
- Assess, identify, develop and implement individual or group-based needs for students with special needs.
- Liaise with parents, teachers and other allied health professionals to provide multidisciplinary support to the students.
- Evaluate and monitor progress at regular intervals.
- Maintain updated client records, therapy resources, occupational therapy programmes / intervention and reports.
Requirements:
- Master or Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Experience working with mild intellectual disability and /or autism spectrum disorders would be an advantage
- Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Preferably with 2 – 3 years of relevant working experience
3. SPEECH THERAPIST
Responsibilities:
- Assess students with speech, language and communication issues.
- Plan and implement individual and group based treatment.
- Provide training and consultation to parents /caregivers and teachers.
- Maintain proper case records, relevant documents and monitor students’ progress.
- All other duties as may be directed by Senior Speech Therapist / Head of AHP Dept. / Principal.
Requirements:
- Recognised Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Speech Therapy.
- Preferably with full registration with AHPC.
- Experience working with special needs students is an advantage.
- Preferably with 2 – 3 years of relevant working experience.
- Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. ADMIN MANAGER
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Matters:
- Oversees the school’s financial operations and reporting to funding agencies and HQ
- Develop, implement, and maintain finance processes, internal controls and ensure compliance with Singapore Charities Act, Charities Accounting Standards and HQ financial policies
- Job function include annual budgeting, resource allocation to support operating and capital requirement, monitoring of fundings, cashflow, GST returns, fixed asset check and adequacy in all general insurance matter
- Ensure timely and accurate closing of month-end financial reporting, bank reconciliation, school fees reconciliation and updating of schedules.
- Prepare and present quarterly financial statements to School Management Committee members
- Responsible for year-end closing, liaison with external auditor and ensure that all statutory requirements are met.
- Support school management team in strategic planning processes and decision making
- Supervise a team of 5 Accounting, HR and Admin Staff
2. HR & Admin Matters:
- Oversee HR management function including staff recruitment, reference check, training, terms and conditions of employment such as job grading, salary guide, re-employment of retiring employees, and timely reporting to funding agencies
- Develop, review, and implement HR policies, ensure compliances with Singapore Tripartite Guidelines, MOM
- Renewal of staff related matters such staff benefits insurance and employment passes
- Supported by HR Executive in full cycle of payroll administration functions such as processing of payroll, submission of CPF, Levy, HR related claims etc.
3. Administrative Matters:
- Oversees daily office administration and operational matters ensuring efficient operations of office services including General Office upkeep
- Liaise / negotiate with vendors and contractors for purchasing and renewal of services & goods supplies such as food for students / staff meetings, bus services, student school uniform, etc.
- Review administrative policies and procedures and recommend for improvement such as Lost & Found policy; Complaint management policy; management of students in sick bay and foyer
- Ensure timely submission of student reports to funding agencies
Requirements:
- Degree in Accountancy with at least 5 years of working experience in finance and accounting roles
- Working experience in Social Services Agencies is an advantage
- Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skill
5. SPED TEACHER
Responsibilities:
- Plan Individual / Group Education Plans, Schemes of Work and Weekly Lesson Plans for each semester / week.
- Design lessons, meaningful activities and assessment tasks.
- Teach academic and non-academic subjects to pupils aged between seven and eighteen by applying the school curriculum in daily lessons in classroom or special room settings.
- Monitor pupils’ progress, achievements and participation in school activities through appropriate documentation and recordkeeping
- Implement interventional strategies with/alongside Allied Health Professionals to assist pupils with specific learning difficulties with speech, gross or fine motor skills, social interaction skills or psychological-related issues
- Prepare and use a varied choice of appropriate teaching and instructional aids and ICT to cater to the different levels of learning abilities in pupils
- Guide and equip pupils with the pre-requisite skills needed for future employment opportunities
- Collaborate with parents through various means such as telephone calls, emails, notes, letters, Parent-Teacher Conferences or home visits to facilitate pupils’ overall growth and development
Requirements:
- Degree or diploma from a recognized local educational institution
- Graduate with full ‘A’ level and
i. 2 ‘A’/H2 Level passes and 2 ‘AO’/H1 Level passes (including General Paper or Knowledge Inquiry)
ii. 2 ‘A’ Level passes and 2 ‘AO’ Level passes (including General Paper) - Must have at least 5 ‘O’ level credits, with at least a B grade in English and Mathematic
- Trained with Diploma in Education or Diploma in Special Education (DISE) and relevant experience in teaching special needs students are an advantage
- Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
6. SPED TEACHER AIDE
Responsibilities:
- Assist in classroom teaching, supervising pupils and managing students behaviour.
- Assist in preparing classroom teaching aids/ equipment and materials.
- Assist and coach pupils entrusted in their care during classroom instruction, recess, school events, out-of-school hour outings and ad-hoc activities.
Requirements
- GCE “O”, “N” level with a compulsory credit in English; NITEC qualification or equivalent.
- Proficiency in MS Office Words and Excel.
- Relevant experience in the field of special needs school is an advantage.
- Good team player with mature personality, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
7. SPED TEACHER – LITERACY
Responsibilities:
- Work with Head of Department to develop Communication & Language (C&L) curriculum* covering the 4 main components in
- Listening & Viewing
- Reading & Viewing
- Speaking & Representing
- Writing & Representing
*Curriculum encompasses the following elements to be developed and captured in a detailed Scheme Of Work (SOW) as follow: - Learning Objectives (to be broken down to knowledge, skills, attributes at different stages of learning)
- Learning Activities (including suggested strategies)
- Opportunities for Integration/Generalisation and Maintenance(especially pertaining to parent engagement)
- Resources/Context (work with teacher aides to create a pool of resources to support classroom teaching and learning)
- Assessment (develop performance-based test (PBT) twice a year, analyse results of PBT and suggest areas of improvement)
Note: One module of C&L curriculum covers one year of teaching and learning:- 4 school terms (covering around 30 weeksof lesson excluding revision and exam weeks)
- 6 periods of lesson per week @ 2 periods per day (180 periods for 30 weeks)
- 30 minutes per period
- Implement interventional strategies with/alongside Allied Health Professionals to assist pupils with specific learning difficulties with speech, gross or fine motor skills, social interaction skills or psychological-related issues
- Guide and equip pupils with the pre-requisite skills needed for future employment opportunities
- Collaborate with parents through case conferences or home visits to facilitate pupils’ overall growth and development
Requirements:
- Candidate must possess at least 5 ‘O’ level credits, with at least a B grade in English and Mathematics, or
- Candidate with full ‘A’ level (including General Paper), polytechnic diploma or degree from a recognized local educational institution
- Trained teacher with minimum 3 years experiences.
- Trained with Diploma in Special Education (DISE) and relevant experience in teaching special needs students are preferred
- Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skill
8. HEALTH & FITNESS TRAINER
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Health and Fitness classes for students with special needs at different levels of fitness and skill.
- Teach and enforce safety rules and regulations on sports, recreational activities and the use of exercise equipment.
- Promote and educate about nutrition, weight control and lifestyle issues.
- Conduct and supervise outdoor education, enrichment and co-curricular activities.
- Give emergency first aid when necessary.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 GCE “O” level credits with a must in English, ITE Fitness Trainer Certificate.
- Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skill.
9. SPED TRAINER (HOUSEKEEPING)
Responsibilities:
- Plan Individual/Group Education Plans, Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans
- Design lessons, meaningful activities and assessment task
- Monitor pupils’ progress, achievements and participation in school activities through appropriate documentation and record keeping
- Implement interventional strategies with/alongside Allied Health Professionals to
assist pupils with specific learning difficulties with speech, gross or fine motor skills, social interaction skills or psychological-related issues - Prepare and use a varied choice of appropriate teaching and instructional aids and ICT to cater to the different levels of learning abilities in pupils
- Guide and equip pupils with the pre-requisite skills needed for future employment opportunities
- Collaborate with parents through various means such as telephone calls, emails, notes, letters, Parent-Teacher Conferences or home visits to facilitate pupils’ overall growth and development
Requirements:
- Diploma or Advanced graduates in Housekeeping.
- Industry Certification in Food Hygiene
- Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment &/ or Industry Trainer Certificate are an advantage
- At least five years of firm grounding in related industry experience
- Teaching experienced with Special Needs students would be an advantage
- In the education and training field with knowledge in ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) course materials
- Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
