Metta Simba Scouts embarked on a 6 days 4 nights Scout Goodwill Trip to Melbourne, Australia from 23 November 2019 to 28 November 2019. It was a meaningful, enriching and memorable trip for all.
The most beautiful memory and the highlight of the trip was participating in the activities with the Manningham Tende beck Unit. Upon arrival at their Scout’s Hall in Doncaster, we received a warm welcome from the local special needs scouts. Their smiles warmed our hearts. Our Metta Simba Scouts were also observed to uphold the Scout Law number 5 – to make friends, establish and maintain harmonious relations.
We participated in their activities including the opening ceremony of the event, building a campfire using natural resources found in their backyard and making traditional Australian “damper” for supper.
Metta Simba Scouts presented a dance segment where everyone joined in and had fun together. Laughter and harmony filled the air. A big thank you to the Manningham Tende beck Unit for their warm hospitality.
Besides interacting with their peers in the other hemisphere of the earth, Metta Simba Scouts also had a good time visiting the different tourist attractions in Melbourne such as the animal sanctuary and farms to have an experience doing the farm chores like milking cows and feeding sheep, adding fond memories to their learning journey.
Overall, our Scouts had a wonderful time in Melbourne and returned home with new friendships developed.
