At Metta School, our commitment to education goes beyond academic pursuits. We prioritize the inculcation of values and a sense of active citizenship in our students. Through a comprehensive approach encompassing school values, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Values-in-Action (VIA), student leadership programs and outdoor/overseas experiences, we aim to develop students to fulfil their goals and aspirations.
Good Character: Foundation for Leadership
Central to our approach is character education, instilling our R3OCK values – Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, Openness, Compassion and Knowledge. These values are fundamental for a person of good character and a useful citizen of Singapore. They guide students to discern between right and wrong, help them to make responsible choices and become more aware of their roles in society.
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Nurturing Holistic Development:
We acknowledge the significance of emotional intelligence in personal and academic growth. Our SEL programs equip students with the skills to understand and manage their emotions, build positive relationships and make responsible decisions.
Values-in-Action (VIA): Cultivating Active and Responsible Citizenship
Our VIA projects are tailored to suit the unique abilities and interests of our students. These initiatives provide hands-on learning opportunities, enabling students to witness the tangible difference they can make to the society. Through such community involvement, students are empowered to become proactive and engaged citizens.
Student Leadership: Empowering to Bring out the Best Within
Leadership at Metta School starts from “self”, with programs to strengthen students’ self-awareness and self-management. Students then learn skills to nurture a “servant” leadership style and are empowered to elevate others through service to the community.
Outdoor/Overseas Experiences: Capstone
Outdoor/overseas experiences mark a milestone for our students as they transition from primary to secondary and finally to the post-secondary level. Through these platforms, students demonstrate all that they have learned, showcasing the growth they have attained through the years.
At Metta, we firmly believe that every student, regardless of their abilities, possesses unique strengths and untapped potential for growth. Through the various student development programmes, all students have the opportunity for self-discovery, serve with a purpose and lead with their hearts.
